​​​This posting is a resume deposit box for candidates interested in PERMANENT positions on Canadian ships as 3rd officer, and it is not necessarily a specific role to fill.

Multiple Canadian ship companies can request candidates from this box and upon agreement with the candidates, the documents would then be forwarded directly with HR or crewing managers of the hiring ship company.

Candidates are contacted only for permanent position.

Salary 3rd Officer:

Oil Tankers: $80,000 - $90,000 CAD per year (6 months on board) minimum.
Bulk / Container / General Cargo : $70,000 - $80,000 CAD per year (6 months on board) minimum.

Ferry Ship / Touristic Boat : $65,000 - $75,000 CAD per season (Go home every night)


Visa Requirement: C1D US Visa is needed 50% of the time for roles on merchant marine ships, and 90%-100% of the time on tanker vessels.

Polar Code: Basic Polar Code or Advanced Polar Code can be required for arctic navigation, for 15%-20% of merchant marine navigation roles.

Required:

-Right to work in Canada. Right to work on Canadian ships.
-Eligible for Transport Canada endorsement if from a foreign country.

-STCW diplomas for holding the role of a 3rd Officer

Due to reciprocity between the Canadian government and foreign governments on recognitions of seafarers, only candidacies of seafarers whose permits / diplomas / certificates come maritime academies in the following countries can legally be considered: Canada, Ukraine, France, Georgia, United Kingdom, Australia, Norway, Panama, Jamaica, Brunei or the Philippines


Due to reciprocity between the Canadian government and foreign governments on recognitions of seafarers, candidacies of seafarers whose permits / diplomas / certificates come maritime academies in the following countries CANNOT be legally be considered: China, India, Russia, African Countries.

Candidates who already have the right to work in Canada will be prioritized. Candidates who already have or don't need Transport Canada endorsement will be prioritized.
