At the start, it was not supposed to be a recruiting company in the merchant marine industry...

CEO & Founder of Recruilytics Inc. and its website BelugaTalents.com, Alexandre Jourdain, comes from a family of 6 canadian cargo ship captains, including 2 retired pilots from the Port of Montreal and 1 master on tug vessels.6

While being a professional in data analytics for 10 years and after wanting to help ukrainians find jobs in IT in Canada on some humanitarian facebook groups, a few ukrainian seafarers appeared on those facebook pages requesting for help relocating in Canada. Since being well aware of the sea shipping industry in Canada, Alexandre offered his help so they can find a job. Close to 200 ukrainian seafarers contacted Alexandre on facebook in less than 12 months following the war in Ukraine

After wanting to have his own recruiting agency in data & analytics positions in Canada, Alexandre created Recruilytics Inc in 2022 while being employed as a Sr Data Analyst / Analytics Manager. Since a large volume of ukrainian seafarers contacted him, Alexandre pivoted his company into sea professionals recruitment and created BelugaTalents.com (under Recruilytics Inc.), answering the need of seafarers (mostly from Ukraine) to find employment, and shippers (mostly based in Canada) to find candidates during this major labour shortage.

Timeline of Events:
2016-2017: High response to an article published on Linkedin about the different data professions. Desire since then to have a recruiting agency in the field of data, AI and analytics.
March 17th 2022: Creation of Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET Visa)
March - April 2022: Started helping ukrainian seafarers find jobs in Canada on convenience flagged ships. Follow up upcoming regulations by Transport Canada to endorse ukrainian sailors.
April 30th 2022: Transport Canada offers endorsement to seafarers from Ukraine, under condition their diploma is from an Ukrainian maritime academy. (Russian diploma refused).
May 2022: Help ukrainians seafarers to find jobs on convenience AND canadian flagged vessels. For free.
May 21st 2022: Being mentionned on my work with ukrainian seafarers in Quebec based Newspaper "Le Devoir" under the article "Des marins ukrainiens en quête d’un port d’attache canadien". My work was to find all canadian ship companies open to hire ukrainian seafarers and explain the immigration / endorsement process to them via facebook messenger. Word of mouth increased the numbers of ukrainian seafarers seeking for employment in Canada to over 200 as of February 2023.
Summer 2022: Incorporation of Recruilytics Inc in Canada, with the goal of recruiting for Data & Analytics positions.
Fall 2022: Ideation of Beluga Talents and pivoting Recruilytics Inc. into seafarers recruitment.
February 2023: Live Launch of belugatalents.com by Recruilytics Inc. to help place seafarers in Canada and abroad.
